Description
The George Washington University at Washington D.C. offers a graduate Certificate or a Master’s Degree in Paralegal Studies. The Graduate degree can be earned in eight months and the Master’s degree in about fifteen months. The paralegals’ job is to assist the lawyer in performing legal duties and as such increase the efficiency of the lawyers. There is an increasing demand for paralegals in the legal community. Students of the Paralegal Studies program can attend the part time, evening classes conducted twice a week. The course covers relevant topics including Legal Specialties in Government Law and International Law. In the course of the program, students learn theoretical and historical studies and also the practical usage of communication, analytical skills and legal ethics. The course includes some online classes as well as classroom based classes. The faculty consists of experienced and renowned lawyers, judges and law enforcement officers who can provide first hand information about the legal profession. Students learn about business, financial and government communities as well. Other topics covered by the program include Corporate and Contracts Law, Litigation and Intellectual Property Law. The Master’s degree includes a non-credit internship program which prepares students in the practical application of their theoretical knowledge. Working attorneys and paralegals have the option of taking only the Legal Specialty courses if they wish to improve their skills and enhance their legal knowledge to advance in their careers.
