 Description
 
 Long Island University has a history of 79 years providing quality education and offers more than 604 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs and certificates. Its six campuses are located in Brooklyn, Brookville (C.W. Post), Southampton, Brentwood, Rockland and Westchester. It has more than 700 full time faculty members and nearly 27,000 students. A bookstore is located conveniently in the campus helping students procure recommended text books. The faculty members are well-trained individuals who are experts in their fields. Career counselors are also available to help successful graduates find suitable employment. The Brooklyn campus offers a Paralegal Studies Certificate Program that is approved by the American Bar Association. Students are given the choice of an intensive day program or an evening program. Classes are conducted Monday-Thursday and in total they have to complete 328 classroom hours in order to get the certificate. Students can qualify for the program only if they have about 60 college credits and most students are usually have a degree. Introduction to Law, Litigation and Trial Preparation, Legal Research and Writing, Computers in the Law, Probate, Trusts and Estates, Business Organizations, Real Estate, Contracts, Criminal Law, Matrimonial Law, Torts, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Ethics, Litigation Practicum and Employment Resources are some of the courses that are included in the curriculum. Transfer students are granted credit for courses that are similar and that have been completed in another ABA-approved program.
