Description

Long Island University - C.W. Post Campus was established in 1954 and offers more than 250 academic programs. A Paralegal Studies Program is offered through Continuing Education and Professional Studies department which is approved by the American Bar Association. Students are offered day, evening and weekend classes and most of the faculty members are practicing attorneys who are experts in their respective fields. Students are also offered personalized internship and scheduling opportunities. The class sizes are small and students can find abundant research material in the extensive Paralegal library. Students have the facility to conduct Lexis, Westlaw and Internet research.

Deserving students of the Long Island University - C.W. Post Campus are offered financial aid and assistance such as federal and state aid packages. Loans, scholarships, grants and work-study programs are also available. They are also offered lifetime employment assistance. Students have to understand that paralegals cannot practice law but have to work under the supervision of attorneys and assist them in areas such as interviewing clients, conducting extensive and thorough research, preparing important documents etc. Students are also offered internship placement in private and public sector companies.

Students of the paralegal program have to complete 330 classroom hours and their curriculum includes programs such as Introduction to Law / Litigation, Pre-Employment, Ethics, Contracts, Criminal Law, Matrimonial Law, Real Estate Law, Probate Estates and Trusts, Business Organizations, Computers and the Law, and Legal Research/Writing.
