Description

Peirce College is a private, four-year institution that was founded in 1865. It is also one of the oldest colleges in the nation that offers completely online degree programs. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Its American Bar Association approved programs lead to associate degrees, bachelor's degrees and post-bachelor's certificates in Paralegal Studies.

It offers regular classroom mode of education as well as an online mode of education for those students who desire more flexibility. Students have to attend Introduction to the Paralegal Profession, Legal Research, Legal Writing I and Civil Litigation courses in a regular classroom. If they qualify for transferring previously earned credits, they may then enjoy a fully online program. Students have free access to online versions of the Westlaw and Lexis legal databases and are provided with a free copy of Microsoft Office Professional Suite of software.

The curriculum for the Associate's degree program consists of courses including Peirce College Orientation which is an online course, Introduction to Word Processing & the Internet, Math Core, English Composition, American Government, Introduction to the Paralegal Profession, Legal Research, Legal Writing I, Civil Litigation, Math Core, Social Science Course, Tort Law, Criminal Law, Application Software Fundamentals, Legal Writing II, English/Communication Course, Professional Legal Responsibility, Legal Technology, Science Course, Humanities/History Course, Paralegal Capstone Project and Cooperative Work Education.

The curriculum for the Bachelor's degree as well as the certificate programs are well structured to ensure that students gain the knowledge and skills required to work under the supervision of attorneys and to complete the tasks assigned to them.
