The university provides a number of academic programs with 80 majors to choose from.

The University of Evansville also provides a legal studies program for students who wish to pursue a career as a paralegal or a legal assistant. Students can apply for a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies and train to become a professional paralegal. Along with teaching the fundamentals of the legal system, this course helps students hone their research skills as well as their management skills. The idea is that they are able to work efficiently in a law office environment. Students are also taught organizational and research skills as well as effective communication techniques.

Students looking to become legal assistants or paralegals will gain practical experience while doing internships. The University of Evansville is known for its international academic program and the legal studies program is no exception, with students being encouraged to study abroad for a portion of their course. Classes are guaranteed to be small so that students receive individual attention. There are a number of attorneys and professional paralegals on the department's Advisory board, so that students may interact with them and better understand the legal field on a one-to-one basis.
